A month later I’ve finally sifted through all my photos and picked out my favs from Art Chcago.  I apologize ahead of time for the lack of information on these images.  No titles or artists, its heresy I realize that, but you’ll forget about it once you start looking at how awesome these works are.

Art Chicago: I

This weekend I went to Chicago to check out the art scene and get out of this city for the first time in a long time.  I feel so good.  There are tons of pictures and ideas on their way, but I wanted to capture the most important part(s) of the trip before they fade.

The other night I saw a lecture with Bill Ayers and his wife Bernadine Dohrn.  Comments/questions from the audience were accepted and the lecture soon became a discussion.  A music teacher asked the question about how someone like him who wants to keep his stable job can be an active part of positive change.  What I (re)learned was that you have to take care of your core responsibilities: survival, family, etc. before you can start helping others.  Awareness is key.  Making others aware of certain events is the second step towards solving big issues, because one person alone cannot do much, spreading information is essential.

I am often confused by how my art can become a beneficial thing for others.  I feel guilty sometimes because art can sometimes be a selfish thing oriented towards personal expression.  Now I don’t feel so bad, but I also feel more determined than before to use my art for the benefit of others.

This weekend is going to be exciting for several reasons:

1. Art Chicago

2. A new idea for a public art project that will be launched soon

3. My bike from Madison is coming in tomorrow morning because I cracked my frame on the old bike: damn Milwaukee roads.

4. Anavasthaa drawings are coming along and a flood of new ideas has arrived.  I actually have enough drawings for about 6+ pages and more in the works.

And now a little something from our friend Hieronymus Bosch:
